Accessibility Statement

Meridian Daily is committed to digital accessibility and aims to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Learn about our efforts, known limitations and how to give feedback.

Last updated:

Meridian Daily believes that news and information should be available to everyone. We are committed to making https://www.meridiandaily.com accessible to all readers, including people with disabilities, and to continually improving the experience for every visitor.

Our Commitment

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning and neurological disabilities. Conforming to them also helps make the Site easier to use for everyone.

Measures We Take

To support accessibility, we:

  • Use semantic HTML with a logical heading structure, landmarks and lists, so that screen readers and other assistive technologies can navigate content.
  • Provide descriptive alternative text for meaningful images and mark decorative images so they are ignored by screen readers.
  • Maintain sufficient color contrast between text and backgrounds and avoid relying on color alone to convey meaning.
  • Ensure the Site can be navigated using a keyboard alone, with visible focus indicators and a "skip to content" link.
  • Use responsive design so pages work on different screen sizes and can be zoomed up to 200 percent without loss of content or function.
  • Write descriptive link text and clear, plain-language headlines and summaries.
  • Label form fields, including on our contact form, and provide clear error messages.
  • Avoid content that flashes more than three times per second and avoid auto-playing audio.
  • Design our cookie notice banner and Cookie Settings controls to be operable by keyboard and screen readers.
  • Consider accessibility when choosing new features and third-party tools, and train our editorial team on accessible writing practices.

Compatibility

The Site is designed to be compatible with recent versions of major browsers, including Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge, and with common assistive technologies such as NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver and TalkBack.

Known Limitations

Despite our efforts, some parts of the Site may not yet be fully accessible. Known limitations include:

  • Third-party content: Advertisements served by Google and other partners, and embedded content such as social media posts or videos, are provided by third parties and may not fully meet our accessibility standards. We choose partners carefully but cannot fully control their content.
  • Older articles: Some articles published before our most recent accessibility review may lack complete alternative text or captions. We are updating archived content progressively.
  • Charts and data graphics: Complex visualizations may not convey all information to screen reader users. Where possible, we summarize key findings in the article text.

If you encounter any of these issues, please let us know, and we will do our best to provide the information in an alternative format.

Ongoing Evaluation

We assess the Site's accessibility through a combination of automated testing tools, manual testing with keyboards and screen readers, and feedback from readers. We review new templates and features before launch and carry out periodic audits of the Site.

Continuous Improvement

Accessibility is an ongoing effort, not a one-time project. We will continue to review and improve the Site as technologies and standards evolve, and we will update this statement as we make progress. This statement was last reviewed on October 15, 2026.
